AAFS finds SCOTUS Muslim Ban decision deeply troubling, urges community to call Gov. Rauner

Arab American Family Services (AAFS) is deeply troubled by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) decision to uphold President Donald Trump’s travel ban, or Muslim Ban, which prohibits most people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen from entry into theĀ U.S. The Supreme Court rejected the challenge that the ban discriminated against Muslims or exceeded his authority.

“The Supreme Court decision does not take into account the families who will be hurt by this executive order. While the Court cites national security as justification, they are not considering the devastating impact this ban will have on immigrant families. AAFS will continue to fight this discriminatory ban every step of the way.” said Itedal Shalabi, Executive Director and co-founder of AAFS.

In the wake of this decision, we are asking that you call Governor Bruce Rauner and urge him to pass the Anti-Registry Program Act (SB 3488), the VOICES Act (SB 34), and the Immigration Safe Zones Act (SB 35) which are awaiting his signature.

Let Governor Rauner know Illinois should remain a welcoming state! Tell him to support SB 3488, SB 34, and SB 35 and sign them into Illinois Law.

Springfield Office of the Governor: (217) 782-0244
Chicago Office of the Governor: (312) 814-2121

There is no more important time than now to speak out against the Muslim Ban. Please make take a moment to call Governer Rauner today to protect immigrant families.
