National Arab American Service Day is May 17

Arab American Family Services will be participating in National Arab American Service Day on Saturday, May 17. Everyone is encouraged to attend this rewarding day, which will be held at A Safe Haven, LLC on 2750 West Roosevelt Road in Chicago. This year, participants will be packaging food for veterans and those who have fallen on hard times. Arab American Family Services has partnered up with Brookfield Zoo to give low-income families an all-expense trip to witness first hand, all the joys that the zoo has to offer. Transportation, along with a free dolphin show and lunch have all been paid for. All we ask is that you join us and experience this wonderful opportunity. Arab American Family Services is pleased to announce that the Student Tutoring Program is set to begin on March 31, 2014. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the AAFS office located on 9044 S. Octavia in Bridgeview, IL 60455. Tutoring is available in all subject matters. Arab American Family Services will take part in a Syrian Refugee Fundraiser hosted at the St. Mark Lutheran Church on 11007 S. 76th Ave. in Worth, IL on Saturday, March 29 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The event is sponsored by St. Mark Lutheran Church, along with The Social Action Committee of the Beverly Unitarian Church and the Southsiders for Peace and Unity in Diversity. AAFS to Participate in Arab American Advocacy Week

Arab American Family Services will participate in the 6th annual Arab American Advocacy Week, sponsored by the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC). Advocacy Week begins on Monday, March 24 and runs through Wednesday, March 26. AAFS and NNAAC member organizations will travel to Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and visit with local legislators and various civic organizations to discuss, learn and share issues related to human services.

AAFS Launches Student Success Tutoring Program

Arab American Family Services is partnering with VISTA to implement a tutoring program for students ranging from 3rd to 8th grade. The program is free. We are reaching out to all veterans in hopes to bring them together, with our community, to help establish a relationship and educate those who need assistance in their studies.
