AAFS Takes Part in 2014 Iftar for Charity

Summer Cooling Program Wraps Up

Signing up for the Summer Cooling Program kicked off on Tuesday, July 7 and until July 11. During this time, funding was provided by the government to ensure cooling assistance for eligible households. Current participants in the Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) were ineligible for cooling assistance. The Women of Color Fund of the Women of Color Giving Council at Chicago Foundation for Women has awarded Arab American Family Services a grant in the amount of $3,000 for general operating support. Chicago Foundation for Women improves the lives of women and girls through grants, advocacy, leadership development, and public and grantee education. Arab American Family Services has teamed up with Yahala Voice, to run a half hour program called “Give it Back.” This  donor-recipient program airs every Tuesday and Wednesday at 4 p.m. and is broadcast live, online and on 1450 A.M. Give it back talks to clients of AAFS, who open up and tell their stories of what made them come to us in the first place, whether it was for Elderly Services, CEDA and LIHEAP assistance, or any other service.
